Pulsation dampeners zorgen voor minder schade aan apparatuur

For companies who use heavy machinery, the following could prove as a difficult problem. We’re talking about pulsation, caused by the heavy machinery. Some machines can produce up to 160 dB of noise, or even more. This heavy noise pollution isn’t the only problem they bring. Pulsation dampeners are the solution to this problem.

What purpose do pulsation dampeners have?

Before we’re going to answer that question, let’s dive in the problem of pulsation pollution first.

Heavy machinery can cause up to 160 dB of noise pollution. This number can even be higher, depending on what it does. Like everyone knows, sound is basically a vibration of the air. This can be in all kinds of frequencies. The low frequencies can cause damage though. The low frequency vibrations can cause damage to other machinery and may even cause a safety risk. Pulsation dampeners are designed to counter this effect. By cancelling out the low frequency pollution, the create a less safe environment.

Pulsation dampeners extend plant durability

The low frequency pulsation can cause equipment or piping to damage. This has as effect that more inspections have to be carried out. This unpleasant as you have to shut down operations for a while. In addition, it costs a lot of money to replace or repair machinery and equipment. By using pulsation dampeners, you extend the life span of said equipment or machinery. You could say that buying and installing the dampeners is an investment. Especially since you invest money know by installing, and saving money on repairing or replacing equipment. Next to these facts, it is also better for operators, working near the heavy machinery. These low frequency pollutions may cause harm to operators working near the source. This can be in a way of causing hearing damage, or maybe blunt force trauma when they are really close-by.
